Dr. Henry Morris lll from Institute for Creation Research spoke to a packed house today at the 1st Baptist Church of Jacksonville Fl, 2012 Pastors Conf. He spoke to a crowd willing to stand even though there were no extra chairs and an overflow room was set up. The ICR book table was swamped with people asking questions. As an ICR volunteer today I can usure you that Pastors want to know how to answer those difficult evolution and creation questions. Do you offer resources and share your knowledge to your Pastor?

I don't often come across people who care very much about the Truth of God's Word, but more and more they are seeking after what goodies the Bible promises them for their best life now.
It's good to hear of people out there who are engaged in the Gospel with the whole Council of God. :)
Dr. Henry Morris lll (Institute for Creation Research), Dr. A. Mohler ( president, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary), and Rev. Mac Brunson (pastor 1st Baptist Church Jacksonville,Fl) spoke to a pact house again on Saturday at the Pastors con. Over 400 people (standing room only) attended their seminar with a Q & A time on Genesis and the Gospel.
We volunteers spoke with many attendees and learned that Pastors are more confident now about their ability to teach on origins/evolution and find trust worthy creationist reference materials. Their fear of looking foolish is fading. I think that the opportunities to hear speakers such as Dr. Morris lll is growing. Also more and more church members that have an interest in the creation versus evolution issue are getting the training they need to provide a Biblical based, professional, fact based, Holy Spirit guided presentation that represents our Creator with the respect our Lord and Saviour deserves.
We think training is key.
Richard, we add one more thought. Our desire to tell others about the success of Dr. Morris lll classes is to be an encouragement not to brag.
There is an audiance for Creationist speakers called by God's Holy Spirit. Do not be discouraged. Doors are opening to well trained and well studied speakers, teachers, and Creationist ministries.
The issue I come up against is that there are several Bible teaching colleges out there that teach the gap theory and evolution was the way God created the Earth. I want to spend some time getting a list of these colleges but have not yet.
This is where I normally come up against a problem with pastors and there family members. Many of them like to ask what is a day and want to define it as a period of time. Myself I think they are being mislead by the devil.
I'm grateful for people like Ken Ham and Kent Hovind that have given me the answers I was looking for.
I too am greatly encouraged to see it happen. When I was growing up 'Creation' was the odd man out and no one would address it. The secular system trained my mind for almost 40 years. Now of course that training has evolved into 'spiritual evolution' and that is what I'm concerned about now. Satan seems to be 1 step ahead of the Church, and by the time we play 'carch-up' it's very late.
These are observations, not discouragements. :)

So you had a preconceived belief and then found someone who verified your belief."
What does that have to do with expanding knowledge?
I was under the impression that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to lead us in all truth.
The more skills one has as in methods of understanding written material the better. To properly understand written material there are several things that need to be known. In journalism class I learned that you need to have the answer to 5 questions to be able to write a good article. You need to know who, what, where, when and why to compose a story.
To understand Biblical writings you need to know some things about about the text that is under study.
1. Who is speaking/writing?
2. To whom or about whom is the speaking/writing?
3. About what subject is the speaking/writing?
4. When or about what time is the speaking/writing?
5. What is the occasion for the speaking/writing?
Once that is determined you need to apply the proper application rule. Which means you need to determine to whom the speaking/writing applies. Some things are written to a specific group of people and some things are written to all people in general. The belief that everything written is to all people is false. There is specific things written to specific people or groups of people as the children of Israel and the Church.
Once you have all that information you should not need confirmation from anyone other than the Holy Spirit.
You said: "This is where I normally come up against a problem with pastors and there family members. Many of them like to ask what is a day and want to define it as a period of time. Myself I think they are being mislead by the devil."
I haven't check what Ham, or Hovind says but I did check what the Bible says. I believe the Bible needs to provide the definitions for words used in all cases where it does so.
In Genesis 1:5 God was very specific with His definition of the Hebrew word transliterated a yom.
Genesis 1:5 "And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day."
God called a light period "Day".
God called a dark period "Night".
God then called that light period combined with the dark period as "Day".
So God defined "Day" as a light period.
God also defined "Day" as a light period and dark period as "Day".
From the evening of the first light period until the beginning of the second light period was 12 hours. From the beginning of that light period until the beginning of the third light period was 24- hours. Every light period and dark period from then until now has constituted a "Day".
So all anyone has to do is accept Gods definition of "Day" to have a correct understanding of what a "Day" is.
Let God be true and every man a liar.
God Bless,
Aaron
