I was thinking of posting my response in your earlier post concerning Pat Robertson and subsequent discussions. Here it is below.

How do you respond to something like this?

You put on your biblical spectacles and look at science through the revealed word of the living God.

Biblical spectacles worldview

God gives knowledge and science is part of that knowledge. God is a logical God. We must first strip out the fallacies/sin/deceit of man under the influence of Satan.

The Three Deceits:

Deceit 1 - Satan used this to physically deceive Adam and Eve (Gen 3:1 "Did God really say 'You must not eat from any tree?'?" Satan says the physical reality is not what God says).

The first deceit is the use of terms. When hearing terms like "science", millions of years, dinosaurs, etc. always look out for logical fallacies such as reification, equivocation, begging the question, straw man and appeal to authority. There are two types of science. Operational and historical. Operational science is the science we trust (operational science was first used in the bible see resources below). Both creationists and evolutionists use historical science. Historical science is based on ones belief. For example carbon dating (the here-and-now) has elements of operational science, but then ones biased worldview are used historical science kicks in to interpret the operational part of carbon dating and other dating methods. Both creationists and evolutionists use historical science. Forensic science is historical science mixed with operational science. YEC fits forensic science best see

Deceit 2 - Satan used this for Adam and Eve to question God (Gen 3:4 - "You will not surely die". Satan places himself as the authority)

The second deceit is with authority. When hearing the word "scientists", "nature", etc. always look out for logical fallacies such as a faulty appeal to authority/majority, equivocation, straw man, no true Scotsman, etc. Scientists have worldviews that they use to interpret past events. Creation scientists do not reject any facts that are observable/knowable in the present. Creation scientists interpret facts in light of biblical history.

Deceit 3 - Satan used scripture to tempt Christ. (Matt 4:5 Satan says "… For it is written ...". Satan uses scripture to justify his claim).

The third deceit is compromise. Dinosaurs are land animals (Gen 1:24). Light is created on day 1 (Gen 1:3 "Let there be light"). The light started the days (Gen 1:5 "... And there was evening, and there was morning - the first day"). So creation starts on day 1. The earth was formless on day 1.

Science -

The modern science method - operational/historical

physical examples of operational science in the bible:

  • Judges 6:36-40 Gideon uses operational science to be reassured that he
(Gideon) would save Israel and the Lord allowed the operational method of
    science to be used

  • Daniel 1:12-13, 16 Daniel uses the testable, repeatable and falsifiable method for ten days.

spiritual/mind examples of operational science in the bible:

  • Psalms 26:2 says "Examine me, O Lord, and test me! Evaluate my inner thoughts
    and motives!" also Psalms 139:23.

  • Jeremiah 6:27 the Lord said "I have made you like a metal assayer to test my people like ore. You are to observe them and evaluate how they behave." Here we see a research study implemented by the Lord!

  • Matthew 5:8 stated "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God". The operational method, on a personal level
