Had a long talk with an Atheist friend of mine.  Now, I can handle all of the creation, evolution, science, facts/assumptions, etc apologetics.  I can handle most of the theology.  But He stumped me.  Basic Question:

Will there be sex in Heaven?

So, sex is a gift from God.  He want's us to enjoy it so it is pleasurable.  He has blessed it (within marriage).  So, would He take away a gift He has blessed when we get to Heaven?  I can't find anything to answer this except that the Law says it is only for within marriage.  There will be no marriage in Heaven.  However, there will also be no Mosaic Law (as it's purpose is a schoolmaster showing us our sin which we will not have need for in Heaven) either.

He also has a problem with "what will we do in Heaven."  And the answer 'worship God in His presence' doesn't cut it because as a non-Christian, that doesn't sound like enough.  As a Christian, it is more than enough, but not something I can relate.  With this in mind, I could accept that sex will not be an issue or desire because the worshiping God will be so much better, but at the same time, we will still eat though we will not need to from hunger or sustenance, but simply out of pleasure. So by THAT token, still having the pleasure of sex makes sense as well.

I simply cannot find a Scriptural answer.  Thoughts?

I would recommend referencing Luke 20 when the Sadducees question Jesus on which man a woman will be married to in heaven. Jesus replies:

"34...The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36 for they cannot even die anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection." NASB

Sex is a gift designed both to allow procreation and to bring a husband and wife closer together. The emphasis is on "husband and wife." Since sex is only for married people, and Jesus tells us there will not be marriage in heaven, then we can conclude that there will be no sex in heaven.
But again, that verse only speaks towards marriage. Sex is only for married people because the Law says it is. The Law is called the Law of sin and death (Romans 8:2) and gets its power from sin (1 Corinthians 15:56). So the Law will not be in Heaven because there is no sin for it to have any power and no death since it has been destroyed.

Sex is a gift, not a sin. By Mosaic Law, sex outside of marriage is a sin but there will be no marriage and no sin. Since there will be no sin, no marriage and no Law making sex outside of marriage a sin, isn't all we are left with is that sin is a gift? So aren't we simply back to God taking away a gift if there is no sex in Heaven?

And yes, sex in a marriage has purposes other than pleasure, but so does eating. And we will still eat in heaven without any of the necessity that eating has to us here.

Remember, I am not arguing for sex. I personally know that worshiping God in His presence is more than enough. I am trying to get my head wrapped around this to reach out to an atheist.

Alright, here's my stab at it.

First, we need to understand that both marriage and sex preceded the law, and sin, so these were in existence prior to the fall.

Second, none will be given in marriage in heaven, and we are to be like the angels.

It has been put forth that the angels do not have sexual distinction. Thus sex would be a moot point. If this is the case, then that is one answer.

Additionally, we are all to be the bride of Christ in heaven. This may be more than figurative, and we will all be "married" already. No, I'm not implying sex with Christ, but we will all be married, which is why we won't be given in marriage. Will we still be able to have sex? freely? Maybe....

So far as activity in Heaven, while worshiping God is certainly on the agenda, I believe we will also be able to do more. I started a thread on this a long time ago. Still, I think we will be able to build, to have parties, to swim, to walk, maybe even to fly. We may be able to explore space (if there is a space in heaven).

So, my two cents.
Also important to remember: don't get hung up on the minutiae when trying to win someone over for Christ. Yes, we should always be prepared to give an answer, but sometimes that answer has to be, "I don't know." The main thing to get across is every man's need for salvation from sin. I'm sure you know all this, I just thought I'd put it out there.

Now then. As for sex in heaven, I personally don't think so. I did, however, find this article intriguing: Is There Sex in Heaven?
Did Jesus have sex? Well there's your answer. lol okay, so this may not be the most serious answer but aren't we supposed to be somewhat similar to christ in heaven?
Excellent article. Thanks for sharing!

I think, because another thing sex was designed for was reproducing, and of course there will be no reproduction in Heaven, then I thing there will be no sex.
But food was meant to sustain us. We won't need that in Heaven yet we will still eat...
Food must have also existed in the Garden of Eden. You wouldn't need sustainence (except from God) there!

if a person is asking if there is sex in heaven, they're setting their minds on earthly things and not focusing on what is important to God and what He has in store for us for eternity. Christ walked this earth for 33 years and didn't give in to the human desire of having sex. Sex is nothing more than the temporary fulfillment of lust. Christ was an example for all of us as He gave His body as a living sacrifice to the Lord. Yes, God gave us sex as a gift here on earth to share with our spouse in marriage. When a husband and wife come together and make love (sex) it's to join us together as "one flesh" not only in our bodies but spiritually. That's called intimacy. When a husband and wife share that kind of intimacy with one another we are also being intimate with God. You can not have intimacy in a godly marriage without God being at the center of your relationship. The Bible states there will be no marriage in heaven. If we are allowed to have sex in heaven then who will we have sex with our earthly mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters. We will be of One spirit just as Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are One. "Sex" is pleasurable but if that's all it is then it comes from our lustful desires. Not out of being truly intimate with God. There will be no lust in heaven. Lust in humans comes from our needs not truly being met, and in heaven God will meet every need we have. "For after all these things the gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:32-33) I mean how would you decide who you would want to have sex with? What would be the criteria to chose one person over another? I mean would you chose one person today and another tomorrow or would you stay with that one partner forever? Of course no one truly knows or can know this side of heaven what pleasures await us when we get there. "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." (1 Corinthians 2:9)
"They neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of heaven."
I have a scriptuaral answer!
Jesus said to Peter that whatever he permits on Earth will be permitted in Heaven, and whatever he forbids will be forbidden in Heaven. Of course he forbade sex, so it will be forbidden in Heaven.
