Ok, caveat before we begin. Much is indicated about specific things for Heaven, Lion sleeping with Lamb, Mansions, new Jerusalem, etc. I'm not debating what's indicated in the Bible regarding heaven, but just pondering the things that are not indicated there, and wanted to put it up here just for fun. Some of the things I've thought about:

"Steak" flavored trees, as I really love a good steak, and don't think we'll be killing any animals in eternity.

Flight? Hasn't everyone dreamed about unassisted flight. Wouldn't it be fun?

Space exploration? Eternity is an aweful long time. Assuming a universe similar to our own, would we be able to navigate the stars to explore other worlds. Possibly colonize?

C.S. Lewis' description at the end of The Last Battle also one of my favorites.

Anything else anyone has thought we might be able to see/do/be in Heaven? Just for fun?

I wonder if we'll be able to access our memories in perfect detail and in addition be able to see our past situations from a different perspective like how others see us or how God saw us. That would be nice!

Hrm. Interesting about outside the gates. The passage kinda circles back on itself, and Jesus is then talking about the time of his coming again, not after. May be that is the picture of before they are cast into the lake of fire. Prophecy can be hard to follow. Just know my part is in the city, and want to be there, not risk the latter.

I think we will have physical bodies, just maybe much different than currently. I think we will have knowledge of our past, but also knowledge of our present, so while we may grieve for what we've done, I think that will be before the White Throne, and then when our name is found in the book of life we will continue into the city, and then there will be no more tears. We will lay our grief at his feet and when it is declared forgiven, it will cease to affect us.

I think it will be interesting to discuss lives with other christians as well, and get a picture of history through them. Also wondering if there may be a way to view the past, to see that great play of life unfolding from beginning to end.
Randy Alcorn's book "Heaven" has some great insights into this discussion. One concept I got from it is that what God originally created, He called "good". All of that was affected by sin, and His work of redemption extends to His whole creation, not just mankind. So, dinosaurs were originally "good". Will He make them again? Also, this issue about the "no more sea" has puzzled me. God made all those wonderful sea creatures. Are there to be no more? There was a large body of water on the original earth, but it was different from the extremely deep oceans that we know today, thanks to the Flood. And God called the original body of water "good". Randy Alcorn tends toward the idea that the sea as we know it, which was very frightening to early mariners, is the sea that will be no more. His idea is that God will reset creation to His original intention, with a few changes, particularly the New Jerusalem. Perhaps there will be a shallower, non saline body of water that will teem with the creatures He made for it and for our pleasure. That would be cool. I was really looking forward to swimming with dolphins and not drowning!
