From my local newspaper:

I know this isn't directly related to creation, but the issues start to become one in the same when Biblical authority is abandoned for "more modern times".

Sad for the Lutheran church.

Wow, how soon we forget that we are not ones to judge! This is why I avoid organized religion all together. Christians often are the worst offenders of Gods instruction not to judge. They are also the worst offenders as far as being the first to cast stones! We have Catholic priests molesting children, World famous evangelicals like Ted Haggard preaching against homosexuality all the while having an affair with a gay escort, and the issues go on and on! Maybe God felt the best way to reach the homosexuals was to send in one! Homosexuals have been cast out of their churches by the fellow sinners! How messed up is that? Who better to help teach and lead than another sinner? Oh wait are we not all sinners, including our ministers, preachers, and priests? No man, woman, or child is free from sin so why do people always feel compelled to point out the sin of others around them? is it to avoid or hide from their own sin? I for one do not feel a gay minister can do anymore damage than the other religious leaders we have in our churches! My advise is worry about your own sin and salvation and let God and others worry about theirs!
Lol. I doubt I'll even attempt to address this post. Amazing.
One cannot preach the Word of God and at the same time lead an unrepentant life that is directly in opposition to it. This means that if you are a thief, adulterer, fornicator, liar, one who covets, etc. you cannot legitimately preach the Word. One also accept the fact that the Word of God is infallible. If you cannot do this, why would you bother to become a preacher except to deceive or destroy? Or maybe you just feel more comfortable with a crowd.
Donovan,
It;s called accountability. As Bible believing christians, we are REQUIRED by scripture to point out sin; especially to our fellow believers. "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgement." (John 7:24) As Christians we are to judge others the same way that God judges a person. We are not to look at outward appearances and base our judgemnt on that. We are to see every person through God's eyes and show them God's love no matter what. But we are not to condone the sin of a person by accepting a lifestyle that goes against God's Word. We are to show them God's love in order to help them come to a saving relationship with Christ. When that person accepts Christ as Savior not only will his/her heart be changed but then the lifestyle will also change through the Holy Spirit. Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. (James 5:19-20) We need to realize that all things here on earth are temporary but what's in a person's heart is for eternity, whether eternal life with God or eternal separation from God. Donovan perhaps you are a new Christian if so please set yourself to thoroughly read God's Word and discover these truths for yourself. May God Bless you in your search and in the increase of your understanding of God's Word. Ron

The BIBLE says that in the last days many shall depart from the faith and reject the God they claim to follow. We see this happening, more than ever in these days.

One reason that homosexual practices (and other of the more obvious evils) are to be judged harshly is not that they are worse than hidden sins such as gossip or self-righteousness, but because they put the whole church to public shame - therefore dishonouring God Himself.

Thus, there must be judgement on anyone who claims to be a Christian - especially if he is a church leader - yet does these obvious, blatant evils. Or if a leader (like the Pope) appears to condone evil. This openly shames God.

Yes, we are their fellow sinners, but that isn't the point. Paul warns those who discipline a church member to be careful lest they themselves are tempted (Galatians 6:1).

We must also take care not to claim the moral high ground by despising and condemning "organised religion". We are all "members of one another" - whether we like it or not - if we are true Christians that is.

When Godly men of old prayed about the people's sins they always included themselves as being part of God's people. For example, Moses pleaded with God to either forgive the people's sin OR take his, (Moses') name out of the book of life! Even though they had sinned horribly by worshipping idols, Moses was willing to lay down his own soul for them. Paul was similarly willing to be "cursed and cut off from Christ" if only his own people, the Jews, could be saved.

When Nehemiah and Daniel prayed about the people's sin, (Neh 9, Dan 9) they said "we", including themselves in the guilt of their people, even though they hadn't committed the sins that so many had.

Good points both of you. You both laid the argument out here in a very Christian manner. Thanks for the posts.
