Most of you are probably aware of the idea that whoever defines the terms of the debate wins the debate. Well, I think we should get in the habit of calling ourselves Biblical Creationists rather than Young Earth Creationists.
Here's my rationale. If we call ourselves Biblical Creationists, then by default Old Earth Creationists are not Biblical. For the record, I have nothing against the term Young Earth Creationist and I'm happy to be one.
What say you?

My point, Jim, is that, provided we hold up scripture as the ultimate revelation of God, we can witness to others that are off track by using articles prepared and presented by other Christians whose particular field of expertise can help in convincing the sceptic that the Bible is true and represents all Truth that leads to salvation.
And I certainly agree about the need for availing ourselves of the skills of others to TEACH the Scripture. Isn't that exactly what is going on here? One poster always brags and boasts that he only studies the Bible, and that we should only study the Bible, and then he proceeds to go off on a lengthy tangent of teaching outside of the Bible, his own teaching.
I read about 20 or 30 AiG, CMI, etc articles every week, and I am usually reading two or three books simultaneously throughout the day - currently a Missionary testimony, another on Marriage, one on Ethics for Pastors, just finished one on Experiencing God, one on Intelligent Design, and just finished one on Purpose. All this while I am alos writing on Going to the Unreached People Group of Amercia's HipHop/Rap culture, writing on Theodicity, on Ethics, and Learning how to find God's will for our day to day path, and developing or designing a Bible Study that uses popular music to direct people to think about What or rather WHO they believe and Why.
God has ordained teachers to help us understand that which is written. God has also ordained scientists to understand what is declared in nature - although that revelation is a bit more subjective and mysterious, and must be subservient to the unambiguous propositional truth declared in plain words of human language in the Scripture.

Permalink Reply by Francis M Russell on March 13, 2012 at 5:09am Wow, Matthias, thanks for the Creation lab brochure. It certainly looks interesting but I don't understand or speak German, so it would be an idea to translate it, but wouldn't this be too much work on your part? maybe I can get a laptop app to translate it :)

Permalink Reply by Rut Woods-Marks on April 23, 2012 at 9:59pm Great words Allen Dunkley.
The world has already hijacked proper terminology in many areas. The emergent movement is particularly guilty of this. They have stolen the terms 'conservative' and 'biblical' while they preach tolerance for sexual immorality. They have created a mushy morass where words don't mean the same things anymore. They will go into lengthy eisegesis trying the explain how the bible doesn't condemn consensual homosexual acts or fornication. To do that, though, first they have to tear down the literal creation account and turn it into a parable. All the emergents I have met are theistic evolutionists and will argue that a literal six day Creation and a 'young earth' is unscriptural. Some have the gall to call themselves Biblical Creationists!
Permalink Reply by Jim Brenneman on April 24, 2012 at 7:24am They espouse evolution and old earth ideas, and then they call it "creation."
Or I know one who calls himself a creationist but denies the Flood and has no reasonable explanation for the geological layers and trillions of fossils all over the place. He thinks they were formed in the creation? or in the 1500 years prior to the biblical flood, by local events.
This may be a form of "creationism" but it is not even close to "biblical creationism."
