"Actually, Mendel watched genetics at work, and he observed that for a trait to be passed onto offspring it must be present within the parent, barring something like a genetic mutation.  Perhaps this is what you are thinking of?"

"Charles martin jr I don't see as false or incorrect anything I said. To atrophy requires a great deal of physical change in a birds wings. if this happen in the first colinizers of some island etc then it would be passed down to the kids. I…"

"Perhaps, Robert, you have missed my point, so I will attempt to clarify.  You just said, "If wings atrophied then such power would be translated to off spring."  As I mentioned, that is simply false.  Jim's latter post…"

"If wings in a parent tend to atrophy due to some genetic cause, then the trait could be passed on to offspring. But if they atrophied due to disuse, then that would not be a trait passed on to successive generations."

"How does adaptation in a local population occur? Obviously we are not suggesting that if we cut of the tail of a mouse generation after generation that eventually tailless mice pups will begin to be born. We are saying that mice born in a cold…"

"Robert, just a quick response to your comment:  "Simply they are a post flood bird that adapted to niches and their wings atrophied."  Muscle (or in this case, wing) atrophy is an acquired charactersitic.  Acquired…"
