The Beginning of The Da Vinci Code

Today I read in the Answers magazine, published by Answers in Genesis, that the creator of The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons and The Lost Symbol gave up on religion as a youth because of a pastor’s inability to defend the book of Genesis.…

Creation speaks a bunch....

I just encountered a statement that I had to think through to understand fully.

Consider this quote from Dr. Sweet:

Quantum spirituality bonds us to all creation as well as to other members of the human family. . . . This entails a radical doctrine of embodiment

of God in the very substance of creation. . . . But a spirituality that

is not in some way entheistic (whether pan- or trans-), that d…

No Faith in Their Hatred

Political columnist Andrew Bolt on Wednesday wrote a very interesting article about the Global Atheists Convention which was held in Melbourne.

He begins by saying that he’s never felt more like believing in…

Question(s) about carbon dating

How do I explain to my kids, or to anyone for that matter, about the unreliability of carbon dating??

When I hear that such and such is millions of years makes me wonder how that is possible and how that could possibily be measured??

A missing piece to the puzzle

Last year we had the privilege of working with the First Nations people in the north beyond where the roads go. It was a unique experience, one that we will always remember. We learned to love the people. We began to understand their traditions and enjoy them. But our time there was a time of discovery in another way as well.…

An Answer to Anti-biblical creationist Christians

I have this posted on my website, but I've noticed there are a couple of people who have the question, "How do I answer a Christian who doesn't accept a historical Genesis?" This isn't a soft-footed answer to that question -- it's brutally honest, but it has some scripture references and ideas that might help. Sorry for the formatting -- I pasted it from .pdf and couldn't get it right:-/…

The River Dreaming

When I was seventeen, my friend Erin and I discovered that the Queensland Theatre Company offered a competition for young playwrights. The winner would have their play produced and performed, which was a big deal. Although neither of us had ever written a play, we decided to enter.…

Understanding the basic arguments for the literary framework

The literary framework view teaches that Genesis 1:1-2:3 contains a historical account that has been shaped (or framed) for literary and theological ends. This means, therefore, that that the six days of creation in the creation account are not meant to represent history as it really happened. We will notice in this post that this position is supported by three arguments.

First, it argues…

Heading for Athens

My wife Mae and I finished last night at Paxton Bible Church with the session, "A Question of Dinosaurs" here in Dalmatia, PA. The folks here were just so receptive and excited to "see" that what is observed in the physical world dove-tails with what is expressed in the Spiritual revelation of God's Word. The Seminar's key verse was John 3:12 where Jesus states, "If I have told you earthly things and ye believe me not; how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly…

A Review of Anti-biblical creationist Young Adult Literature

As a public middle school teacher, I keep up with the books my students read. So many books present the kids with an evolutionary philosopy that permeates our culture. Below is a recent book review I've written.

Evolution, Me & Other Freaks of Nature by Robin Brande…

Lack of sleep leads to . . .

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. Went from Asheville, North Carolina to Covington Virginia to Lexington Virginia to home to leave the next morning for Anaheim California to Costa Mesa California to fly home and leave 4 hours later for Massachusetts. All that to say don't hold what I'm about to write against me. I was tired.

With that disclaimer I'll tell you what happened. I got to bed about midnight in California after doing the TBN program,…
