Philip the Arab

Many people say that the Roman emperor Philip the Arab was a Christian. This si not true, for several reasons.
First, he reigned at the beginning of the years A.D. 240-266, also known ass the Reign of Chaos, and that was a very pagan time.
Second, he had his father deified, and no Christian would, could, do that.
Third, he held lots of shows in the Colosseum to celebrate Rome's 1000th brthday, and that is not a Christian thing to do.

Life of Luther a Review

The Life of Luther is a historic and comprehensive biography of one of the Protestant Reformations most influential leaders, Martin Luther. In this book by Doctor Barnas Sears originally published in 1850, Luther principle stand on biblical authority, and his work as an educator and church leader are presented. From childhood to being educated in the Scripture, as well as the rest of his life- this book seeks to draw a personal and historical perspective on the life of Martin… Continue

The Authority of Scripture

There has been a lot of discussion as of late on whether the Bible should be taken literally or figuratively. The obvious answer, of course, is that some parts are literal and some parts are figurative. The question then becomes: how can we tell the difference?

When I approach the Scriptures, I typically follow a set of rules that I like to call "The Logic Test," adapted from Dr. David L. Cooper:

1) When the straightforward reading of Scripture makes sense,…

Physics intimidates me. This book doesn't.

I need to preface this with reasons why I jumped at the chance to read this book --

  • I have science nuts for sons, and they…

Psalm 4

Have you ever faced a situation where God seems silent? Maybe you prayed for guidance, or a change, and He didn't answer. One of the reasons I love Psalm 4 is because of David's raw honesty in the first verse:

"Answer me when I call to you,

O my righteous God!

Give me relief from my distress;

Be merciful to me and hear my prayer."

In college, I walked through a portion of life that was dark and aimless. Satan was assaulting me regularly,…

Animosity

Sometimes, people disagree. Sometimes, people disagree and one of them is wrong. Sometimes, people disagree and everyone involved is wrong.

For those of us on this board who are followers of Christ, we should not be surprised when others show up here and disagree with Christianity/the Bible. Remember, before most of us became followers of Christ, we were "enemies of God" as well.

Did you know that there are atheists in this forum who are pretending to…
