A new Gallup poll shows slightly fewer Americans believe in creationism today than in the past.
According to the results of a new Gallup poll, 40% of Americans believe that God created humans approximately 10,000 years ago in their present form. 38% believe God participated in the evolution of humans from less advanced forms of life, and 16% believe humans were created strictly by evolution with no involvement from God at all. The number of Americans who believe in strict creationism is the lowest number in Gallup's history of asking the question, down from 47% in 1999.

Anyhoo, google found it and the question seems above aboard. There was also a rather interesting graph that tracked how people have answered over the past few years - I find it interesting that the only real change is with those holding to either strict creationism or strict evolution; the more liberal "God guided evolution" remaining largely unchanged. Not what I'd expect given all the hype I hear about the growing liberalism amongst Christians.

Comment by Adam J. Benton on November 17, 2011 at 2:43pm What were the questions asked? I've seen surveys in the past where a peculiar phrasing might've mixed up the results somewhat.
