A defense of the gospel; refutation of evolution; excerpt from a conversation I am in at the moment

--Flawed Logic--

Creation declares God's attributes: infinite, unchanging, all powerful, all wise, etc. "The
heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."
Psalm 19:1

It is utterly foolish to look at things that inherently
possess order, such as natural laws that don't change, body processes that have incredible complexity, photosynthesis & say that it did not come from God. He has made it plainly obvious to everyone. It is foolish to take what He is to be honored & thanked for & deny Him, waving a banner of flawed logic. This is the epitome of futile, darkened thinking that exposes your heart as being darkened as well. If we say we have fellowship with Him (the One who holds all
truth), but walk in darkness, we lie, & the truth is not in us.

--historical/observational science--

Are you aware that evolution is based purely on historical science?? Please don't waste my time by going down a path of circular reasoning (you know, evolution is true, therefore the fossils are millions of years old. Fossils are old because evolution is true--isn't this flawed logic?).

I challenge you to offer OBSERVABLE proof of evolution (you may need to check your presupposition that evolution is true at the door to see this...).

This raises a question; what do you make of the origins of science?? After all, if the earth is product of random chance, then why should we expect to see order in nature? (note--that all operational science is dependent upon the order & constants in nature; isn't it flawed logic to look at the complexity in the universe & assert
that it arose out of random chance??).

Dr. Todd, of Kansas State University, exemplifies this darkened view, "Even if all the data point to an
intelligent designer, such an hypothesis is excluded from science because it is not naturalistic." The wrath of
God is revealed against all ungodliness & unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. Romans 1:18

The bible can be trusted when it speaks in the area of science (Isaiah 40:22, written hundreds of years before Christ, for example).

I came across a good question by Roger Patterson, "There are two contenders for the history of life on earth: some form of naturalism (evolution) or supernatural creation. Are there really any alternatives to some form of
naturalistic evolution in science if science is restricted to naturalism?"

--radiocarbon & young earth--

The foolishness of God is wiser than men, & the weakness of God is stronger than men (1 Corinthians 1:25).

"Elementary, my dear Watson." With C14 dating, two questions need to be asked, 1-how fast does it decay & 2-how much was there to begin with? The reality is, the decay rate is known, & the current amount of C14 is known with the organic matter, while the starting amount is not known.

[for the following discussion on C14/C12 ratio, I researched an article found here: http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/nab/does-c14-disprove-the-...]

The main problem with C14 dating lies in the assumption Dr. Libby made about carbon dating, & that is the ratio of C14 & C12 has always been what it is today. If the ratio hasn't always been the same, then it would be difficult or impossible to determine any starting amounts of C14, thereby making incorrect dates. The ratio is the rate of production of C14 compared to the rate of it being removed.

The evidence is stating that since it takes 30,000 years to reach equilibrium in the atmosphere, & we still aren't at equilibrium, then the earth isn't that old.

[moving on :) ]

Evolutionary science has no answer for the manifold wisdom of God that is on full display in His people (Ephesians 1), & it cannot explain why is radiocarbon in diamonds & ancient coal from layers said to
be dated between 40-320 million years.

You mentioned uranium dating. Since you are familiar with it, you know that the decay of uranium produces helium gas as a by-product. You also know that based on the rate helium diffusing, there is no possibility (with man's darkened reasoning & evolution) for helium to be present in rock that is supposed to be 1.5 billion
years old. But what is impossible with man is possible with God, & understanding from His word. You must acknowledge that the fear of the LORD is wisdom & to turn away from evil is understanding. How else can you accept that there are two age estimates, one based on the decay of uranium to lead & the other on the
helium gas leakage? Check out this revealing study done on rocks that had a radioactive decay age of 1.5 billion years old, & between 4,000 & 14,000 years old helium diffusion age. http://www.icr.org/pdf/research/Helium_ICC_7-22-03.pdf A more readable article on the topic is here: http://www.icr.org/article/114/ (less of the scientific jargon/lingo/equations & such)

You made an entirely valid point about the assumptions in question. Really, that is what is the
issue here. It isn't the evidence. It is the starting assumptions. You deny the role of God in the universe, and
I accept His eyewitness account—the Bible—as the foundation for arriving at a
correct understanding of the universe.

In keeping with the Psalm that says God's truth will spring out of the earth, there is much in the way of archaeological evidence to support the historicity of the bible. However, in favor of keeping the discussion in the confines of our Q & A to this point, I'll move on.

In geology, Mt. St Helens has aptly demonstrated that catastrophism
is more than adequate to explain what we see today:

1. The entire mountain rearranged beyond recognition in 9 hours.

2. Canyons formed in 5 months

3. Badlands formed in 5 days

4. Layered strata formed in 3 hours

5. River system formed in 9 hours

6. Sinking Logs Look Like Many Aged Forests in Just Ten Years

7. A new model for rapid coal formation

The bible records a global flood that was incredibly catastrophic event. It is more than adequate to provide a starting place for geological research, whereas, evolution & the "wisdom of man" is busy trying to explain how it
is the colorado river carved the grand canyon when the entrance to it is at an elevation of 2800 feet above sea level, the exit is at 1800 feet above sea level, & the center (!) is at 7000 feet above sea level.

This article on mudstone deposits if very interesting: http://biblicalgeology.net/2006/Overturn-long-held-geological-belie... It does a good job of illustrating, I think, how assumptions affect ones interpretation of the facts.

Here is another interesting geology tidbit--all geology textbooks teach that diamonds can only form in the earth's mantle at depths of more than 75 miles. The discovery of microscopic diamonds in metamorphic rock has baffled those of the evolutionary camp (as I'm sure your research will demonstrate to you). However, this is not an issue for one who is wise, that is, one who fears the LORD, because Genesis gives a record of the deep being catastrophically broken up, thus accounting for the formation of diamonds in the metamorphic rock.

Here are six geologic evidences for Noah's flood:

1. Fossils of sea creatures high above sea level

2. Rapid burial of plants and animals

3. Rapidly deposited sediment layers spread across vast areas

4. Sediment transported long distances

5. Rapid or no erosion between strata

6. Many strata laid down in rapid succession

Again, evolutionary science is confounded, as it is based on man's darkened heart & foolishness, in dealing with the folded rocks in the grand canyon. The righteous one, the one who believes God at His word is not surprised by this, as it can be predicted using the global flood as a starting assumption. His word is true from the beginning!

There is tons more geologic evidence to wade through, but I must move on!

--reliable approaches to belief systems--

Denying the creator is not reliable, but foolish! Only the fool has said in His heart there is no God (Psalm 14:1).

In comparison to other ancient writings, the bible's preservation (i didn't even go into a discussion regarding that of the old testatment) is astonishing, though not surprising, as it says His word is eternal, stands firm, cannot be
moved, etc....

--reserved judgment--

Since you have read the Scriptures, you know that by reserving judgment, you are judged already by Christ.

Your arrogance will be your downfall. You read the bible twice but totally missed what it said! The Christ of the bible, which you read twice, rose from the dead, & said He came to testify to the truth. You aren't reserving judgment as to what the truth is; you are willfully rejecting & suppressing it in a vain attempt to justify yourself. His word says that He will judge all mankind for their deeds in this life.

Yet it doesn't have to be that way for you! God has actually demonstrated that He loves you, in that while you were still a sinner, Christ died for you. Accept His grace & be free from sin & death!

--celestial bodies--

Mercury is another evidence for a young universe. If you want details on that check this article out: http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v26/i4/mercury.asp

Read & accept the evidence that is plain, because God has made it plain! Turn from your sin & embrace Christ!
