Most of my life I believed in evolution. It was taught to me in school and I was an absolute sponge for scientific knowledge since my earliest memories. But, these scientists I put my faith in had a secular world view and preached evolution. I was caught in a secular worldview. I never really attributed life and the universe to God. Then, a few years ago I started studying creation science and stumbled through some bad information until I found the truth.
I started out gleaning bad information from an alleged creation scientist. I never really attributed the term evolution to astronomy and the cosmos, but the “creation scientist” I was gleaning information from did...upon further contemplation...he is actually an evolutionist. He believes in an old universe and denies the literal interpretation of the scriptures in Genesis. Well, the universe is young and aging, like us. It was spoken into existence and now it’s aging toward its eventual death because of Adam’s original sin and in accordance with the natural laws that God put in place. I will never again speak of our universe in terms of Billions of years. The Earth and our Universe are 6 to 7 thousand years old and the historicity of Genesis is true and accurate. I have seen, heard and read evidence that is compelling concerning this fact. God took 6 literal Earth days of 24 hours each to create everything, not because he needed that much time, but because he wanted to provide an example of what a week should look like...6 days of work and one day of rest on the Sabbath. God is Amazing!
The foundation of our Christian beliefs is our understanding and belief in the true and accurate history within the pages of Genesis. Genesis is not just stories, it is history. Over the past few hundred years the scriptures have been attacked by just about every scientific discipline out there, including Biologists, Anthropologists, Paleontologists, Astronomers, Geologists and other experts, to name a few. A few years back, Archeologists proclaimed to the world “The Bible is Wrong, the Hittites never existed”, then just a few years later they said “oops, the Hittites did exist” and they existed in the exact time period and region described in the Bible. There are thousands of stories of the Bible being proven right and zero stories of it being proven wrong. We must teach our children the truth about Genesis.
A recent survey of children was conducted and one of the conclusions stated that our Middle and High School students stop believing in God because, in Sunday school, they are taught that the world view of evolution and the big bang is okay to believe. This teaches the children that Genesis is just a bunch of stories and not true history. So, they very cleverly think, if Genesis isn’t real why should I believe any of it. When questioned by children, 90% of pastors tell them it’s okay to believe in evolution as long as they believe in Jesus. Okay to believe in evolution!? No...if you fail to teach Genesis as true history, that means that you are teaching that Adam never committed the original sin...No original sin, no need for redemption, no need for Jesus, no need for the cross and the shedding of our precious Savior’s blood, no need for the resurrection, and no need for Christianity. We must teach Genesis as true and accurate... because it is and also, to keep our children believing, trusting and cherishing God’s Holy Word and our beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
