People of the earth seem to be so lonely and so full of angst about whether or not there is anyone else “out there.” Why did God create humans in the middle of a vast universe that seems to be empty? Why did God create humans with this God-sized void in our hearts?

The Search for Other Life

by Jim Brenneman

SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) is doggedly searching for life “somewhere out there. . . .” Space programs and massive telescopes scour the skies in search of someone else, something else, anything else – that might make us feel less alone. We send out our own signals and cry out for a response, waiting and waiting, spending billions of dollars and millions of man-hours listening for a voice in our loneliness.

The same thing is the purpose of the inscribed tablets in the spacecraft that show pictures of two humans, and then depict the location of the earth in the solar system within a star map. This is to honestly present ourselves to whoever is out there and invite them to contact us.

Interesting. People of the earth seem to be so lonely and so full of angst about whether or not there is anyone else “out there.”

TV shows on numerous networks depict how investigators go into documented haunted locations to invite the ghosts (demons) to reveal themselves, to tap, to move something, to make a noise, and so forth. The investigators get all excited when they see something move, or hear a knock. The fact is that these things are merely parlor tricks. The real supernatural phenomena are the miracles that God manifests such as an oil jar than never ran out of oil, an iron tool that floated on top of water, a Son raised from the dead after dying on the cross for the sins of the world.

If evolution were true, then there should be millions of worlds out there similar to ours. Our paths should have often intersected by now. The search for ghosts, the search for mermen, the search for Yeti, the search for alien life – these searches are all an expression of that loneliness and heart-cry for something, someone, anything to fill that void that only God can fill. Sadly we try to fill the vacuum with all sorts of things that will never fill it up.

God created us and designed our inner parts to be lonely apart from connection to Him.

Jesus came and died on the cross to bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18).

It is God Himself Who gives to all life, and breath, and all things;
And it is He who made of one blood every nation of men

to dwell on all the face of the earth,

having determined their appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation;
that they should seek God, the Creator, if by some possibility they might feel after Him

and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us:
For in Him we live, and move, and have our being.
(from Acts 17:25-28)

Jesus came to bring us to God. Godly leaders should never be involved in anything less than bringing people into connection with God!

Isaac, I really do not know how else to say this that will get the concept into you brain, other than repeating the post below.  So please read this carfully and allow time for it to soak into your understanding.

The Bible says NOTHING about Earth being the only planet with intelligent life.

The Bible says NOTHING about intelligent life on other planets.

Science also has NOTHING but conjecture based on probability, and the sheer numbers of galaxies * stars * planets.

Therefore, the supposition that there is intelligent life elsewhere in the cosmos is an UNKNOWN.

Therefore, no one can say or prove that their either IS or IS NOT life in the universe other than this wonderful creation of planet Earth.

If you still do not understand what I am saying, then you will need to ask someone else, as this is my FINAL word on the subject.  One basic scientific principle you should bear in mind though, for your future life is this;

"The absence of evidence is not evidence for absence"

Isaac, I don't know whose posts you are reading but they are not mine.

1) I have already stated (if you will have read my posts rather that project what you thing I said) THE BIBLE SAYS NOTHING ABOUT CREATING LIFE ON OTHER PLANETS, NOR DOES SAY THAT HE DIS NOT.

2) Because of this and the lack of positive evidence, it is an UNKNOWN, therefore ANY articles you read, no matter how convincing, and no matter how qualified the writer, are in fact 'opinion' not fact.

But please, if you know better, please supply chapter and verse, together with incontrovertible evidence, post it here, I would be very willing to accept it.

Isaac, you can't express your own thoughts?

Although AIG is a great web-site for making people think, they are not always right, in fact form my experience they quite often publish articles that are very flawed.  So I am not sure what it is you disagree with.  Do you disagree with my point that we will never receive a signal from another planet, or do you disagree with the entire concept of intelligent life on another planet?

The Bible tells us nothing, one way or the other, it does not state that Earth is unique among the countless zillions of planets our there.  Although the Bible tells us, in iron-age language, that God spread (expanded) the universe, it rightly does not state that that Earth is at the centre of the universe, if it would surely be if everything God did was centered on Earth.  There is no physical evidence to support a Earth-centric universe, we are not even near the centre of our galaxy.  AIG talks about science pointing out how insignificant Earth and our solar system is, this is completely wrong.  Science recognises the significance of planet Earth, and it is the standard for classifying the cosmos.  Earth is in the advantageous position of being exactly right, right size, right distance from our parent star, in the right orbit; it has the right gasses and chemicals to allow us to live here and for life to thrive.

The size of other stars, whilst interesting, means little, other than to provide clues as to the perfect mechanics of the universe, do you realise that you are more powerful than gravity, yet gravity holds the universe together, holds the planets in their courses and holds the Moon in its place to sweep our space of meteors, whilst the giant gas planets of Jupiter and Saturn sweep our orbit.  Can we really restrict God by declaring that He only generated one habital planet with just one intelligent creature?

One more comment:

Our paths should have often intersected by now.

Impossible, which is why I ceased working for SETI, radio signals travel at, but not above the speed of light.  This opens two options 1) we ill never receive a signal because there is no one there or 2) we receive a signal from a distant planet a million light years away, proving that this particular civilisation sent a radio signal a million years ago = impossible because the universe is not that old.  Simple logic.

SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) is doggedly searching for life “somewhere out there. . . .

Hi Jim, some years ago I did some work for SETI, and it seemed to me that there was no desperation there at all, just a curiosity toward what is out there in the universe.  It is hard to accept that this Earth bears the only intelligent life in this universe that is so vast that our puny brains cannot grasp one percent of it.  Logically, if God created the universe to show His power and glory, why is it larger than we will ever see.  We cannot, nor ever will know the full extent this side of glory, so logic demands that there must be a further purpose.

Unless we can develop a means of transport the like of which is currently science-fiction, it is unlikely that we will, human kind, will ever leave this solar system.  That eventuality is certainly unlikely, simply because we cannot over come the energy to work ratio, it takes the same amount of energy to go from A to B no matter what speed you travel at, that is what E=MC2 is about.

If evolution were true, then there should be millions of worlds out there similar to ours. Our paths should have often intersected by now.

Not necessarily Jim.  What if we actually manage to contact another civilisation, which is extremely unlikely, and we find that it was God who created them also?  If God is indeed God, and if there are other beings out there, they can only have been God created, because He created the universe.  Once we thought there were eleven hundred stars, later we realised that there were hundreds of billions  of stars just in our galaxy, today we know that there are around two-hundred billion galaxies within visual range.  We do not know how far the universe extends, so there could be countless trillions or zillions of galaxies.  Almost all stars have attendant planets, even if there were just one planet in each galaxy harbouring life, they would be countless.  Now lets face it, what is the likelihood of man travelling to another galaxy when the nearest is some twenty-two million light years away?

I believe that there may well be life, created life, elsewhere in the universe, but I also believe that God does not want those peoples  to make contact with each other, for whatever reason.  God has a plan, nothing happens by accident and all things work to the good for those who have faith in Him.
