Photo captured in my friend’s backyard in Washington State.

A bright yellow explosion captured and held my attention.  This blast of color towering over its neighboring counterparts seemed to explode with joy as its whole being reached for the sky.

A Fascinating Explosion!  The French word for sunflower is “tournesol,” which means “turns with the sun.”    In its bud phase, sunflowers will seek out and face the sun. This phenomenon is called heliotropism.

Extraterrestrial Survival –  Sunflowers need something — not on this planet – extraterrestrial – a light to help them survive.  We – humans – also have an extraterrestrial need for light – a different type of light.

In John 8:12, Jesus spoke of this need with a crowd.

He said, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”  John 8:12

Also, just for fun…  Click Following the Sun to view sunflowers following an extraterrestrial.

Wowza Sunflower Fact:  Sunflowers are planted to soak up nuclear radiation!
Sunflowers are good at absorbing toxins too.   Millions were planted after the devastating tsunami destroyed reactors in the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.
