The purpose of this blog post is to discuss models for the creation of biological life and to identify the areas where thoughts, logic and mind exists in arranging the information found within biological life.

The paradigm adopted here is the assumption that information is essential for biological life and this information is of a non-material nature that influences the material in which it is found in. A definition of this information is essential to the refinements or exclusion of models.

Worldviews will be identified which can account for the information, logic and thought processes found.

Lou, I think I've been consistent in what I have been proposing and saying. "Purposeful choice" not "self-determinism" is built into our very DNA and Spiritual fabric.

In order to understand our physical genetic make-up we cannot exclude purposeful choice as the initialisation and self-sustaining factor, because inanimate matter has no choice. Adaptive variation is not deterministic as inanimate chemical laws are. The very processes in life's gnome such as repair mechanisms, epi-genetic markers in DNA, protein synthesis codon robustness and limitations, etc., is what makes sure life survive (see information of life diagram). Without these built-in processes to correct defects by mutations, life fails and natural selection is redundant.

Your King snakes example relies on the phenotype appearing for a changed body plan, but without the mechanisms that can only come from purposeful choice, especially the original cell, then the king snakes cannot adapt while undergoing certain natural selection environmental processes. Hybridization is only the outcome of these choice genetic mechanisms.

The analogy of the computer model illustrates codes, languages, error correction, algorithms, etc. that are represented in life's gnome that were originally instantiated by choice decisions and are maintained by these self-sustaining systems at the physical designed level.

It's only a supreme spiritual mind that can instantiate purposeful choices on inanimate matter and energy through the make-up of information of life that sustains life before natural selection ever becomes available.

Floyd are you inferring that adaptive variation has a form of "self-determinism"?

My king snake example below is prefect in that the variations that we know of are all horizontal in nature.  These are all king snakes, just like the hybrid between a desert horned lizards and a flat tailed horned lizard we do get a changed body plan do to sharing new information via hybridization, but again this is horizontal in that the new result is a horned lizard and not a T-rex.

Will you explain this a bit more clear, it seems foggy to me, sorry.  I want to understand what your saying?

Lou, formalism produces selectable freedom and adaptable variation. Formalism of all kinds involve abstract ideas and agent mediated purposeful choices. Language, algorithms, logic, error correction systems, codes and symbols are abstract representations of the physical and coordinates, controls and structures the physical. In the biological cell we have representations of all these things.

Genes are derived from the DNA code base pairs which in turn are translated into the codon codes which in turn these codons are assembled into polypeptide code chains -- proteins (as shown in the biological model diagram below).

A number of genes are known to affect skin color have alleles. When color is manifested the life form will go under selective pressure from natural selection.

In biological terms mistakes in the different alleles in the gene resulting in color aren't disastrous to the life form, but in a natural environment natural selection can make it difficult for that life form to survive. But mistakes in the polypeptide code chain for potential functionality of vital functions (without error correction functionality) are disastrous before natural selection can ever see it.

So we see adaptable variation is dependant on abstracts that can only be derived from choices under selectable freedom. Choice and freedom doesn't exist within deterministic laws that chemicals, physics follow and cannot be determined by random chance. This choice works against potential functionality. Natural selection can't see potential function, but can work on function when it arrives deduced by built-in choice left by the mind who wrote it

Floyd, Mark... The term "adaptable" variation... I discussion context what are you implying here when using this term?
Doesn't the Word inbilogocical conext infer or asunmr even intelligent choice? Yet in the context observed biologic variation I don't see intelligence on the part of a created biologic unit making intelligent choices out side of free will given man. For instance in King Snakes there are over 20 differ varying levels of color variations between striped pattern and ringed pattern. While this is accomplished by hybridization... Your thoughts it seems that even in these scenarios the designer has limited variation genetically, and pre planned design information does not run counter or break down. Where mistakes are made a biologic rejection occurred removing the mistake from changing the purposed deign.? Your thoughts?

Mark Blue, the answer lies in the ability to instantiate formal choices into physical media. Which came first is not the issue in this case, but the issue is which (matter/energy or information) can instantiate adaptable selectable information which produces wide adaptable variation with controlled limits? Formalism of all kinds involve abstract ideas and agent mediated purposeful choices. Inanimate physics and chemistry have never been shown to generate life or formal choice-based systems. Formalism produces selectable freedom and adaptable variation. Selection for potential fitness or function is a formal, not a physical enterprise. Artificial selection is the essence of formalism. Symbol systems and configurable switches is where formalism and physicality meet. Symbols are formal representations of meaning, not merely physical objects. Symbols represent purposeful choices from an alphabet of symbol options.

The two diagrams below represent the computer model and the biological model and shows where formalism meets the physical media. This is where original information is infused to matter and energy. Notice the information is changeable, adaptable to cater form varied situations and environments.

Choice is needed for instantiation.  From these choices comes agreements. To make matter/energy do things functional, controls are needed not physical determinism or constraints. Meaning and understanding is programmed in by a human mind in the computer model. The biological model requires a far superior mind.

Meaning, purpose is invisible until it is instantiated.

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen [i.e., sun, moon, stars, plants, animals and people] were not made of things which are visible” (Hebrews 11:3).

The invisible human mind of man possesses unmatched abilities, unlimited streams of ideas, invention, memory, thoughts, language, and skills, and is capable of mentally visualizing and then directing his body to physically build every conceivable unnatural and complex structure and machine, out of natural resources of the earth; and as such, it is the most powerful entity on earth that God created.

God ONLY gives this powerful mind to man, which also happens to be the only method God gives us to seek Him, to "see" the invisible things of God, and communicate with Him, which surely is the reason that man is without excuse for rejecting Him.

And I still say, the scientist who makes the most good toys wins!  And the most accurate predictions.  Especially in genetics.  JK

But how DOES information become part of animal and plant life?  One may be able to prove, matter was infused with information once, six thousand years ago, and continues on unchanged,  its Thinker disinclined to add any new info.  Stolidly throughout the few millenia, kind producing kind is easy enough to see.  But kind originally acquiring its driving info, I can't even begin to picture that.  Matter becoming engaged with information.  Which came first, the information or the chicken or the egg?

This comment shows in diagrammatic form how the teleological relationships within the empirical facts of living organisms and the computer model are paradigms that provides support for the supernatural.

Most of the information posted on this blog are intended to help readers to think how God may have created. I also emphasize that we are mainly dealing with things not contained within scripture but they add support to the scriptures and our everyday experience of the living Christ.

Most of the time on many forums, we get bogged down in bashing evolution which means less time spent on thinking creation.

So, I hope, here we are released from the evolutionary paradigm and enter the revelation of creation in the material and immaterial world which is our reality.
