I ran across two lectures by a Dr Mark Woolmer on the correspondence of the biblical accounts with other ancient records, mainly about Persia, and one on revised egyptian chronology bringing it into line with the bibilical account.

From Woolmers comments I gathered that he became a christian from his studies. What he describes is confirmation of the bible from other sources and how they complement each other to provide a better understanding.

Now then, we are back to the bible being accurate back to books of Moses. Obviously there were no witnesses to creation, so that can not be verified against other records but it should be noted that that record has been echoed in chinese symbology (other very interesting lectures on the correspondence between their writing systems basic symbols correspondence to concepts from Genesis to be found from other lecturers).

Search Youtube for Mark Woolmers lectures or the slaves4christ channel.

The next day I stumbled on Sir William in another youtube documentary and his path to believing in the bible account.. It is strange what coincidences occur...

Thanks friends. I will be looking up Ramsay and Cooper.

Hah! I did and put one Cooper book on my amazon wish list so I will get to him eventually.

Ramsay reminds me a little of Heinrich Schliemann who also had the thought that the ancients might from time to time have been telling the truth and dicovered Troy (not biblical but an illustration how far a bit of respect for the ancients gets you ).

Sir Wm. Ramsey had the same result when he went to Asia Minor and the Greek Peninsula to investigate the historical accuracy of Luke in the Book of Acts. He began as a skeptic and ended as confirmed believers, and now stands as one of the greatest scholars of archaeology and Church history.

I've been reading Bill Cooper's book, Authenticity of Genesis. He brings a lot of correlations between the Bible's historical timeline and extra-Biblical sources. I'm only about a third of the way through but I like it so far. Not sure that I agree on every point but there is a lot of new information it it.
