Join fictional rangers Jack and Jen as they sort out a mysteriously missing mountain, based on the real occurrences of the eruption of Mount St Helens on May 18, 1980 and its after effects. By using puzzles, games and “Rockin’ Ranger” activities Kim Jones brings the earth science discovered after the eruption to a level that can be enjoyed by elementary level students and by the adults that enjoy it with them. The puzzles include anagrams (word jumbles), simple cipher codes, word finds, mazes and more that kids can do; and there are enough clues surrounding them to help you in case you might get stuck. Rangers Jack and Jen guide and teach the science basics of volcanoes and erosion with facts, photos and research activities that show how different geologic features can form quite rapidly, without taking millions of years. These young earth concepts are then brought home by showing how God’s word and the science you learned are compatible. After you have solved the mysteries, completed two Rockin’ Ranger Activities and two Mystery Ranger Missions, you can go to the official web site and print off your own Official Mystery Ranger Certificate. You can also find more activities and games on the web site.
Our kids are being constantly bombarded with science that ignores the history that the Biblical narrative states, so it is wonderful to find a resource like this book that teaches real science in fun, effective way that supports Biblical history.
